A single teacher, Julie, shares her inspiring story of pushing through her fears to invite foster kids into her home.
“As a teacher I’d seen foster care kids come through school with no resources. I don’t think I’m the solution, but I did want to do something. I think the foster community needs more awareness of the great need for foster families, resources…”
Throughout the article, she talks openly about her fears in saying “yes.” In becoming a foster mom. And I found myself nodding. Too often I let my own fears build walls between me and the “yes.” Between me and these kids.
We never know what will come. But without the “yes” we never will know.
I’m not Julie, but I love that when she got past her fears she “learned that I’m stronger and braver than I thought.”
I bet that’s true for many of us.
